JGA

Jesse Gray Association (JGA) Parent Teacher Association

What is the JGA?

The Jesse Gray Association (JGA) is a parent and teacher association (PTA) that creates fun for our children and brings together parents and teachers to raise money and support for our school. We are a registered charity (1136775) and are supported by our head teacher. You can find our legal constitution at the bottom of this page.

At a time when school budgets are being cut the money we raise is ever more important, funding those things which make our children’s education all the more enjoyable.

In recent years, we have raised thousands of pounds in various ways such as school discos, annual summer fayres, bonfire parties, Christmas fundraisers, football tournaments and curry and quiz nights.

Our vision and values

We support our school commitments to Achieve, Inspire, Challenge and Enjoy.

Our goal is to raise funds for what our children and school needs.

The events we produce, the activities we support and the time we give are crucial to the success of the JGA but these commitments cannot be made without the kind support of parents.  The work we undertake varies massively so whatever you can give to the JGA, no matter how big or small, how regular or infrequent, we welcome all parents and any time you can give.

When we meet

We get together for an hour or so every other month, either virtually or in person. This is usually on a Monday, between 8pm and 9.30pm.

We endeavour to let parents know the details of the next meeting a week in advance, by issuing an email.  We also put reminders on Twitter.

Dates of meetings can be found in our calendar of events page.

We do give generously with our time and efforts in raising money, but we also have a lot of fun doing so, and we make our meetings as sociable as possible.

We are always on the lookout for new members and welcome parents and carers to attend meetings. Nobody is expected to attend every meeting or help on every event.

We support and manage our meetings with regular attendance from the core JGA team. Please see the 'Meet the team' for details of our current team.

These roles are taken on a voluntary basis, with various other jobs shared around amongst others who attend the meetings, who want to do that bit extra.

JGA Events

We host regular annual fun family events to bring the school community together including the summer fayre, school discos and bonfire night and Christmas events.

We are always looking for volunteers to support on these events, with roles from logistics and planning, running a stall to lending an hour on the clean-up rota.

We plan regular events throughout the academic school year, implementing as many new ideas as we can.  Planning in advance allows us to request the use of the school as early as possible as the hall is regularly let out to other organisations and community groups.

How do I get involved?

The JGA is a group completely reliant on time kindly volunteered by parents and carers.

We’re always looking for new ideas and skills that will help us plan new and exciting fundraising activities for our school. So if you have a background in marketing, discounted goods or services or you play in a band that can entertain us all at the next outdoor event, your talents are always welcome - however much time you can give.

What’s more you’ll make new friends and learn new skills. If you can spare an hour once a month, once a term or even just once a year, it all helps to make a big difference.

If you aren’t able to or would prefer not to attend our meetings, then you can still volunteer to help at any of our events.

Please get in touch anytime by:

  • emailing us at jga@ga.jessegray.notts.sch.uk
  • catching a JGA trustee you may know at the school gates
  • or just popping along to our monthly meeting.

We always love to have new people on board. It’s a great way to get to know new faces around the school.

By registering your interest you can find out more. You are not automatically tied into helping, so please rest assured you won’t be signed up to anything unwillingly!

The JGA are signed up to receive donations via Amazon Smile, this means for every eligible transaction made the JGA will receive 0.5% of the amount spent.

Please visit www.smile.amazon.co.uk and choose JGA as your chosen charity to make your purchases count....don’t forget to tell wider family & friends too!

No need to worry AmazonSmile is the same Amazon we know. Same products, same prices, same service.

Stamptastic – if you need an easy way to label clothes, why not invest in a stamp and raise money for the school? One of our committee has had the same stamp for 6 years! https://bit.ly/STAMPNG27DD
