Welcome to the Year 4 information page.
The page below will be updated with documents and resources which you can download and view below. However, the main way to see what we get up to is via the Twitter feeds:
This week we are listening to:
In the Hall of the Mountain King by Grieg, a Norwegian Romantic Era composer. Using the link, you can listen to the piece, watch a video of a live performance of it, find out lots of information about the piece and the composer, even print off parts for you to play a version of it on a variety of instruments. If you want ideas for other things you can do related to the music, there are some lesson plans too.
Next week's piece is:
The Flight of the Bumblebee by the Russian Romantic Era composer Rimsky-Korsakov.
There are lots of other videos on YouTube featuring different instruments playing this piece. This link is for an orchestral version.
You could talk to your child about the music. Did they like it? Why/why not? What instruments can they hear/recognise? Does the music remind them of anywhere? How does it make them feel? What is the tempo (speed) like? Can they tap the steady beat along to it?
For this particular piece, what does the composer do to imitate the sound of a bumblebee?
Don't know what to read next?
This website is great for searching for your next book by author, recommendations or by book awards. And the best bit is, you can download the 1st chapter to try for FREE!
Not sure if that book is suitable for your child's age group?
Use this site to check the suitability of your child's next read and gain a suggested age rating.
Lost your homework/ spellings (or the dog ate it / it spontaneously combust) ? Remember, there are always spares in the classroom so help yourself!
