25.3.18

We had a wonderful week , we had Blue for a loo day on Thursday and had a visit from Severn Trent Water who explained how to save water.  We also learnt how important it is for villages in Africa to have clean toilets.  The children made rainforest animals out of toilet rolls in the afternoon!

Fruity Friday: We learnt how to cut fruit safely using the claw and bridge method and cut up different fruits to make a fruit kebab.

Please see our photos in the gallery.

Spellings: The children are learning the Year 2 common exception words. If they know them all please practice the x3 tables and have a go on tt rockstars.

9.3.18 World Book Day

You all looked fantastic today inyour outfits and we had fun reading in our dens and on our cushions! There are plenty of photos to see in our class photos.

We read the story of Mrs Armitage, an old lady who keeps adding things onto her bike until it collapses!

I hope you enjoyed reading the children's rainforest stories they wrote this week that I sent home. Some children have also taken clocks home this week to practice telling the time before Monday. Please could you bring the clocks to school with you next week.

Spellings: We tried the Year 2 common words today and the children highlighted words they need to practice for next Friday and put them in the back of their reading records.

26.2.18 Welcome to Spring term 2.

I was so proud of  all the children at the end of term performing their assembly to all the parents and school and I hope you all had a lovely half term to rest. I am looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Our arch way for night light was on display in Nottingham over half term and is now back in school, watch out for it in the school garden soon.

2.2.18 : Maths challenge : part part whole

Sharphill woods Monday 29th January

We had a great muddy time up at Sharphill woods. It was part of our geography topic to explore the local area and compare it to the rainforest!  More photos are in our gallery - see who got the muddiest!

Town and Country Mouse 25.1.18

We loved the performance today by members of the Playhouse theatre who performed The town and country mouse. I had songs, rap and drama for us all to enjoy. Some children were asked to join in the show by the audience were part of it all too. I have put some photos in our gallery.

Maths Challenge this week : Pyramid challenge hot or boiling. ( You don't have to do them all!)

Night Light Archway 23.1.18

Today we had a local artist in class to help us create an archway that will be lit up and used in town for Nottingham Night Light on Feb 23rd. The children cut out leaf shapes from recycled materials and attatched them to the arch, they also made a flower from the end of a plastic bottle. Please see our photos in the photo gallery. The arch will come back to school after Night Light.

19.1.18

The children have been amazing writers this week and I have read some wonderful sentences. Lots of children got super stars and Alice was the first to get her 10 and a certificate in assembly. Max also got his and several others are very close. Super stars are given when children do some special work that the teacher thinks they have really made an effort with. It could be in any subject. When they have 10 super stars, Miss Law awards them their certificate in assembly.

Next week we have the artist coming to make a sculpture out of plastic to use on Night Light in Nottingham and the playhouse theatre performing Town mouse and the Country mouse- I can't wait!

Maths challenge : Missing numbers.

14.1.18

Hello I am looking forward to our week ahead. The children know all about their new topic , The Rainforest . We had tme in the hall with Year 1 and 2 last week. The teachers did some drama and the children tried to guess our topic from the clues we gave them. We then all had fun doing some drama, singing and dancing ! This week we shall read the Julia Donaldson Book, Monkey Puzzle and write a narrative. In Numeracy we are estimating and finding missing numbers.

Special visitor ! On Monday we have Tweet visiting! Adam has a new canary called Tweet. He wrote all about him. I thought it would be a really interesting to find out about other children's pets. If they would like to write or draw a picture I have created a pet page so we can read all about them. If children don't have a pet, they could choose a friend or family pet they know or tell me about a pet they would like to have - it could even be imaginary such as having a Gorilla as a pet!! I have a story called Ruby's Rhino which I shall read.

9.01.18 Happy New Year

Thank you for my very special Christmas gifts and cards , you are very kind. x

I have had a really lovely first week back at school. It has been great to see the children and hear their Christmas stories, they have come back really positive and I am impressed with how well they have worked and behaved .

23rd January: The children are having a workshop working with recyled plastic, please collect any bags, bottles, containers that we could make leaves out of that would be fantastic. If you send them into school anytime before the 23rd that would be great.

11.12.17 Mrs Lloyd has been off ill.

I would like to say a big Thank you for Mrs Blakemore who has been taking care of the class while I have been ill . I popped in today to have a glimpse of the nativity and to see the class. I hope you all enjoy the show on Tuesday and Wednesday, the children are fantastic. I shall hopefully be back very soon,  I am missing all the children.

Treat Day : Books

We had fun reading and sharing our books with the class. It was lovely to see which books the class had chosen and they all took it in turn to tell us about their book and why they liked it. The biscuits were a treat too and we have some left over!!! See our photos in the gallery.
