Mindfulness & Well-being
We believe that that children deserve an excellent education that prepares them academically and emotionally for the challenges they will face inside the classroom, and the wider world.
At Jesse Gray Primary School, we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff. We know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times, anyone may need additional emotional support. We take the view that positive mental health is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play.
We hold mindfulness at the heart of our teaching and curriculum and have boosted this further with events and activities to bring mindfulness and wellbeing to the forefront of our culture and ethos. Alongside this we offer each Year 5 and 6 child an introduction to mindfulness through 7 one hour sessions delivered by our in-house Mindfulness Lead. We feel strongly that the practices and thinking tools Mindfulness offers will provide the children crucial life skills for overall wellbeing.
We regularly meet as a whole school and either lead by our Mindful mentors, or our Mindfulness Lead: Mrs Wood we take part in whole school meditations.
