What’s happening in February?
NEW YEAR, NEW LOOK!
We are delighted to announce that the JGA has been given its very own identity, designed to complement our School’s own aims, vision and values. This brilliant ‘new look’ JGA has been created by Jesse Gray parent, Adam Travis, owner of Brand & Communications agency, Cubic.
It is a great privilege to have Adam offer and provide support on this element of the JGA as he will assist with much of the artwork we require to communicate with parents. From event posters to our monthly newsletter, you will start to see the new branding appear in all things JGA.
FRIDAY 9TH FEBRUARY – COFFEE AFTERNOON, 2pm – 3.15pm
We are hosting this term’s coffee afternoon on Friday 9th Feb and we look forward to seeing you there! Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available – as well as water & juice for young children. Come along for a chat and to see what’s going on over the forthcoming half term as we host leaflets and flyers from local clubs and family venues. The second hand uniform rack will also be there if you’d like to pop by for a bargain!
FRIDAY 2ND MARCH – SCHOOL DISCO TIME!
Details of the school disco have now been circulated digitally by email and also via a letter home to parents. All payment will be processed via Sims Agora this year so don’t forget to log on and book your child’s/children’s place – along with your availability to help at the discos. This year’s event is sure to be as lively as ever and we hope the children are looking forward to it! A copy of the letter can be found below.
WHAT’S BEING SPENT IN YOUR CLASS?
Courtesy of JGA funds, we are delighted to report the past couple of month’s recent class spends have included…
- Class 4B - Miss Barratt and the children of 4B have invested in a class pet. Their stick insects are due to arrive very soon!
- Years 5 and 6 – the classes have clubbed together to buy a large selection of new books for the children to enjoy at school and at home
- Class 2W – The children in Mrs Winfield’s class have been enjoying their recent purchases… plastic storage boxes, hats, binoculars and plastic animals… all in aid of this term’s topic.
HELP FROM OUR FAMILIES IS PARAMOUNT
We are hugely grateful to the parents and families who have helped - and continue to help – at our JGA events and fundraising activities. We have welcomed a few new parents this school year but we are in need of many more.
We believe it is important that, as a team, we represent all year groups to provide a well-rounded view of what our families want from their PTA. At present, we represent only a small number of year groups and we’d like to encourage parents from all years… those who’ve been involved in the past and can share their experience, those who can offer their own expertise to a service we may provide, and those who just want to do what they can.
WEDNESDAY 14TH MARCH, JGA AGM
The date is now set for our AGM. Unlike other school PTA’s, we are a registered charity and we must manage our work, our expenses and our trustee responsibilities in line with our constitution and The Charity’s Commission. This year’s AGM will present the past year’s accounts and activities along with plans for the forthcoming year including proposed activities, spends and trustee positions. A full agenda will be listed on our website page with the JG school website.
YOUR KINDNESS AT CHRISTMAS
It feels like such a long time ago now, but we are still reminiscing about the incredible generosity from our JG families. We cannot express our thanks enough!
We fulfilled our commitments to our social housing charities and delivered a huge array of essential gifts to The Friary too. Our year 6 children received a visit from The Friary so they were able to understand the importance of their donations and what they mean to those who benefit. All of our charities were incredibly grateful and asked us to pass on their thanks. You can see from the photograph below, the pile of gifts was huge!
As always, our JGA-ers were on hand to help Santa and ensure every class enjoyed their visit, receiving a small sweet treat. Santa was asked for some super requests from the children… from blu tac to Ferraris!
As we do after every JGA event, we put all of our helpers names in a hat to win a small thank you gift. With so much help from our families for both the Grotto and sales of the hampers, we have pulled two names. Congratulations – and sincere thanks – to both Jo Burr and Jo Travis. Please visit the school office from Friday 9th to collect your thank you gift.
