Week commencing 23rd April 2018
We had a fantastic start to the new term last week. Our current topic: 'The Vikings' was introduced to Year 5/6 on Tuesday via an outside provider. He brought the topic to life through artefacts and stories... We can't wait to learn more as the weeks progress.
In English, our narrative writing is based on Michael Morpurgo's Beowulf - we end the week with the children retelling a section of the story in their own words. Over this final term, we will really be encouraging flair and sophistication in independent writes!
We will continue to focus on aspects of fractions and decimals in maths this week, with a specific focus on problem solving.
Science - Practical Friday: We have been looking at mechanisms and water/air resistance and Friday pm was spent making a mechanism.
Date for the diary - Year 5 trip to Perlethorpe for a Viking themed day: Wednesday 2nd May 2018 - a letter has been parent mailed out.
Welcome back to the summer term 2018! On Tuesday 17th April, our new topic will be launched - we can't wait to get learning all about it.......
