About the JGA

What is the JGA?

The Jesse Gray Association (JGA) is a parent and teacher association (PTA) that creates fun for our children and brings together parents and teachers to raise money and support for our school. We are a registered charity (1136775) and are supported by our head teacher. You can find our legal constitution at the bottom of this page.

At a time when school budgets are being cut the money we raise is ever more important, funding those things which make our children’s education all the more enjoyable.

In recent years, we have raised thousands of pounds in various ways such as school discos, annual summer fayres, bonfire parties, Christmas fundraisers, football tournaments and curry and quiz nights.

Our vision and values

We support our school commitments to Achieve, Inspire, Challenge and Enjoy.

Our goal is to raise funds for what our children and school needs.

The events we produce, the activities we support and the time we give are crucial to the success of the JGA but these commitments cannot be made without the kind support of parents.  The work we undertake varies massively so whatever you can give to the JGA, no matter how big or small, how regular or infrequent, we welcome all parents and any time you can give.

When we meet

We get together for an hour or so once a month, currently virtually on Zoom, usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening between 8pm and 9.30pm.

We endeavour to let parents know the details of the next meeting, 21 days in advance, by issuing an email and / or text from the school office.  We also put reminders on Twitter. Here are the dates of our upcoming meetings:

  • Wednesday 14 Jul 2021, 8:00pm
  • Tuesday 24 Aug 2021, 8:00pm
  • Tuesday 7 Sep 2021, 8:00pm
  • Wednesday 15 Sep 2021, 8:00pm
  • Wednesday 6 October, 8:00pm on Zoom

We do give generously with our time and efforts in raising money, but we also have a lot of fun doing so, and we make our meetings as sociable as possible.

We are always on the lookout for new members and welcome parents to attend meetings. Nobody is expected to attend every monthly meeting or help on every event.

We support and manage our meetings with regular attendance from the core JGA team made up of:

  • Chair - Lorna Patrick (appt 18 May 2021)
  • Vice Chair - Jenny Beech (appt 18 May 2021)
  • Vice Chair - Nouveen Khan-Mupunzvana (appt 25 May 2021)
  • Treasurer - Crystal Bevan (appt 18 May 2021)
  • Secretary - Ketki Nandha (appt 18 May 2021)

These roles are taken on a voluntary basis, with various other jobs shared around amongst others who attend the meetings, who want to do that bit extra.

The agenda of each meeting is:

  1. Notification of those present, known members unable to attend and the individual taking minutes
  2. Actions taken following the last meeting
  3. Notes from Chair's meeting with the head teacher
  4. Event by event update
  5. Budget and spend
  6. Ideas forum
  7. Requests for next month’s agenda
  8. AOB

JGA Events

We host regular annual fun family events to bring the school community together including the summer fayre, twice annual school discos and alternate bonfire night and Christmas party events.

We are always looking for volunteers to support on these events, with roles from logistics and planning, running a stall to lending an hour on the clean-up rota.

We plan regular events throughout the academic school year, implementing as many new ideas as we can.  Planning in advance allows us to request the use of the school as early as possible as the hall is regularly let out to other organisations and community groups.

How do I get involved?

The JGA is a group completely reliant on time kindly volunteered by parents.

We’re always looking for new ideas and skills that will help us plan new and exciting fundraising activities for our school. So if you have a background in marketing, discounted goods or services or you play in a band that can entertain us all at the next outdoor event, your talents are always welcome - however much time you can give.

What’s more you’ll make new friends and learn new skills. If you can spare an hour once a month, once a term or even just once a year, it all helps to make a big difference.

If you aren’t able to or would prefer not to attend our meetings, then you can still volunteer to help at any of our events.

Please get in touch anytime by:

  • emailing us at
  • catching a JGA trustee you may know at the school gates
  • or just popping along to our monthly meeting.

We’d love to hear from you, and don’t think we are just made up of mums – dads and grandparents are welcome too! We always love to have new people on board. It’s a great way to get to know new faces around the school.

By registering your interest you can find out more. You are not automatically tied into helping, so please rest assured you won’t be signed up to anything unwillingly!

The JGA are signed up to receive donations via Amazon Smile, this means for every eligible transaction made the JGA will receive 0.5% of the amount spent.
